Dinner at Word Pie, Bridgehampton

Today’s post is written by one of my very best friends, Valerie. Of all the people in my life, she has been one of my biggest influences. She has truly inspired me to be a better person, to work hard and to believe that if you can dream it, you can achieve it. Valerie founded eyechow.com to document her passion for all things edible. Lucky enough to grow up in multiple locations (New York, Florida, The Caribbean, and Hawaii), she has an insatiable desire to continuously experience different cultures, and most of all, different foods. I was thrilled when she asked to write a guest post on Hamptonite, based on a weekend we spent together last summer in Bridgehampton. Enjoy!

Last summer, my boyfriend and I were lucky enough to have our first-ever trip to The Hamptons hosted by Danielle and Stephen. We beached, barbecued, boated and of course, ate a lot of great food.

After a long day at the beach and then some afternoon wine-tasting at the wonderful Wolffer winery, we were famished. It was finally time for dinner, so we ambled into World Pie, which serves wood-fired thin-crust pizzas in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that you can roll into looking a bit worn out after a full day outdoors, and not feel out of place, but still get a good meal. We sat outside (under an umbrella, since we were already sunburned) which was lovely.

We started with a pitcher of sangria; it was flavorful but not too strong. We split two large pizzas between the four of us (each pizza has 8 slices, so we had some leftovers). The first, and my favorite, was the “Parma,” with prosciutto, mozzarella, pesto and tomatoes. Our second choice was the “Smoked,” with wonderful smoked mozzarella, tomato and basil. Both pies were great but I just love pesto, so that one won me over.
